Why a Silent Retreat?
It's a sacred opportunity to take the energy typically used for external communication and turn it inward. It's a place to reset and recharge outside of noise and the breakneck pace of modern society

Prolonged silence lets you recharge from the stresses of daily life, but the practice of silence and its intention goes beyond relaxation... Outward silence shines a light on the parts of your inner life you don’t usually experience, teaching you to acknowledge and process even your most uncomfortable thoughts and feelings.

This practice of observing your inner landscape can teach greater stress tolerance and emotional balance that lasts long after the retreat is over.
A silent retreat can also provide an entirely new perspective on major life changes. True silence removes the pressure of outside influences, allowing you to examine what really brings joy and meaning to your life. Focused periods of meditation can help you uncover your innately joyful nature and teach you to sustain it, even in the face of change and hardship.
So what will this Silent Retreat be like?
The retreat will actually start before you arrive... You will have one session with Liz Caraballo and myself to set your intention in our time together. Liz Caraballo is a teacher, speaker and writer. Over the years, she has amassed countless hacks to find relief - breathing, stretching, humor, sounds, scents, rebellion, art, music, travel, food, Animal Medicine cards, forgiveness, writing, and meditation to name a few. 

You will also have an EFT session with Master Healer Janet Hilts... Janet Hilts has helped over 700 women in 13 countries in the last 10 years start creating the lives they crave. As a breakthrough coach she flips old thought patterns and sets her clients free from emotional
baggage so they have a fresh, clean slate to make new choices. Her session with you is going to help you release reluctance and resistance to unplugging and embracing the silence.

After the opening ceremony, we will adhere to complete silence for 5 of the 8 days and on the last day we'll do a group meditation and closing ceremony.

On the first day, you will receive a booklet that outlines the group activities available to you. These include nature walks, yin yoga, coloring, painting, creative cooking, and free writing

The more you open yourself to being part of the group and the whole as opposed to staying to yourself, the more you will be transformed during our time together. 

We will have a schedule that gives participants the ability to know what's coming and yet the days will not be filled to the brim... 

Meals will be slow and mindful... Each group activity will be pleasant and relaxed. 
In the silence, we will slow down time and be present in it all... It's our intention to plunge you into your inner world so you can experience the sensation of being at home in your own body, hearing and connecting to your ancient wisdom.

Angelique von Lobbecke is an Ascension Guide and works as an Energy Healer and Spiritual Mentor, Medical Intuitive, Author and Speaker. On the first day, she will conduct the Shamanic Fire Opening Ceremony, where we will call upon the 4 directions to help us release the parts of us that do not serve us anymore and stand in the way of clarity, success and magic. 

Journeying to our Inner Sanctuary we will meet our Future Self who has all the answers on what our business wants and what fulfills us most and we will clearly see our path ahead.

Karen grew up in San Diego and moved to Japan for a decade as an adult, where she managed the commercial kitchen for her own international Montessori school. While there, she hosted annual pop-up dinner events as well as co-founded an international cooking club.
Karen and her family have now lived in 7 different countries on 4 different continents, with no signs of settling down. Her culinary style is a PLAYFUL blend of where she's been, mixed with a generous dash of wherever wanderlust leads her next. She is very excited to bring her special brand of global fusion to the silent retreat.

What will accommodations be like?
We've taken care of every detail so you don't have to...
Part of the healing and transformation is being surrounded by beauty and nature

You will have your own bedroom with shared bathrooms, kitchen, and living space

You will not be in dormitory style accommodations... While we will be drawing on nature's healing power, this retreat is not glorified camping.
Three meals a day are included. (We are happy to accommodate any special dietary needs.) 

Ingredients will be fresh and locally sourced. Snacks, herbal teas, and spa water will be available 24/7

All activities and airport transfer are included. Please note that airfare is not included in the price of the retreat, but if you need help planning your trip, we can give you recommendations for someone to help with this.
During this 8 day silent retreat you will be immersed in beauty and luxury... Gorgeous accommodations, gourmet food by a professional chef and daily walking meditations and yoga classes will be available to you, as well. 
What will be expected of participants?
Retreat participants are asked to stay off all electronic devices (including laptops, cell phones, DVD players, and MP3 players) for the duration of the retreat. 

There will be no checking social media, watching movies, checking emails etc...

For guests who are attending and have elderly parents or small children at home, we are happy to make two, 30 minute check-ins available, if necessary. 

Please also leave all books and magazines, even those of a spiritual nature, at home.

What are the benefits of this Silent Retreat?
1) Silencing the Monkey Brain
The ‘monkey brain’ is a part of your mind that is triggered when you try to not speak. Basically, you swing from thought to thought like a baboon on a set of monkey bars because sometimes, just by trying to be quiet your thoughts, they can actually spin out of control. It takes about 24 hours of silence for your mind to settle and for the thoughts to grow quieter, but once they do, you will know a peace of mind like never before.
2) Listening to Your Inner Voice
With less monkey brain chatter come clearer thoughts and an increased focus on one’s inner being. This is when the journey of self-enquiry truly begins. When you can’t communicate with others verbally, you start to ‘speak’ to your inner self, and most importantly to listen to your inner monologue to understand who you are and how you feel about who you are.
3) A Cure for Boredom
In a world of endless distractions, most of us have no clue how to simply do nothing. For example, when we have no gadget to play with, we often cry ‘boredom’. However, being able to be still and calm whilst doing nothing is a crucial life skill. You may feel like you are bored at first, but slowly, you’ll become more aware of your emotional state. That’s enough to occupy your mind. You’ll realize that being silent pulls out emotions you may have put away, and guess what? You may finally deal with them or even befriend them as a process of self-healing. Your imagination will also come more alive in silence: you’ll develop a curiosity for what’s happening in your mind, body, and surroundings.
4) More Mindful Eating
Your mom was right when she said you shouldn’t speak with your mouth full – being silent at meals improves digestion. When you concentrate on your food and chewing it well, you eat more slowly and mindfully. And when you eat more slowly, you tend to eat less, because your stomach has the time to process the food and tell your brain when you’re full.  
5) Resetting Your Vocal Chords and Ears
Research at the University of California found that women speak an average of 20,000 words a day (compared to only 7,000 for men). Clearly, we talk a lot! And that’s a lot of stress on our throats and vocal chords. We are bombarded by noise so much every day, we don’t seem to realize it until it’s finally gone, but noise is actually a form of pollution that can take a terrible toll on our physical and mental health. You’ll sleep better, think clearer, and your voice will also sound sharper and brighter after days of silence.
6) Gain Clarity on Your Life
There is no doubt that mindful eating, calmer thoughts, listening to our inner self, learning how to live with boredom and resting will only lead to a new, better you. You’ll gain a bit of insight as to what’s really important in life, and better understand when your body is truly hungry (rather than just craving tasty food), and you’ll feel more comfortable in your own company.
